Mixed Bag

Today started out rough – 5 miles into the ride Barry’s sled was overheating (mostly icy roads) but with several field repairs we were of to catch the crew at Bauers Dam… Conditions from Eagle River to Bauers were mixed – good & bad. Met up with Kurt, Mike and 4 more while we waited for Roger, Charlie & John to show. After 45 minutes & no show Roger, we headed to Black Oak via trail 7, Trail 7 was mostly rough and icy. Mikes sled started running real bad and we found his carb boots were cracked. He found a lift back to Eagle River for sled repair. After meeting up with Rogers crew at Black Oak we headed to Log Cabin in Conover for a late lunch. Trails were pretty nice and we were clipping along pretty good while I watched Barry come over the rise, catch the second bump that ejected him with his sled ghost riding it out. Thankfully both sledder & Sled were unscathed. After a fix on a blown belt on Rogers crew we were on our way again. Trails home from there were awesome, first one after the groomer. Great day, lots of memories & stories. Conditions covered the gamut from icy, hard, low snow, rough moguls to perfectly groomed.
